Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 16 November 2012 9.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra image release was issued on Nov 15 describing observations of Abell 30 (a.k.a. A30), a planetary nebula located about 5500 light years from Earth. A planetary nebula is formed in the late stage of the evolution of a sun-like star. The evolution of A30 stalled and then started up again, so the planetary nebula was reborn, a special, rarely-seen phase of evolution. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2012/a30/
