During the last two weeks Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was conducted on Jan 15 to patch the ACIS flight software. The new version (44, Standard C, Optional C) includes code changes that address a number of issues such as preventing Back End Processor (BEP) telemetry packet loss under certain timing conditions and preventing a BEP reset on Front End Processor powerdown. The patch was initially loaded on Oct 1 but backed out as a conservative measure following an expected BEP reboot on Oct 5. Further testing failed to reproduce the reset and analysis suggests a single event upset as the cause. All observations following the patch reload have been nominal. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of Eta Carinae coordinated with Suzaku. |
