Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 12 September 2008 8.30am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra image release was issued on Sep 11 of the galaxy cluster Abel 1689. This composite Chandra and HST image shows signs of merging activity but with a smooth X-ray appearance, unlike other merging systems such as the Bullet Cluster or MACS J0025.4-1222. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2008/a1689/
