During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Real-time procedures were executed on Oct 12, 15, and 18 to perform full-frame dark current readouts of the Aspect Camera Assembly CCD.

A Chandra image release was issued on Oct 17 providing a new image of the Tycho supernova remnant showing a pattern of bright clumps and fainter holes in the X-ray data. Scientists are trying to determine if this clumpiness was caused by the supernova explosion itself or something in its aftermath. By comparing Chandra data to computer simulations, researchers found evidence that the explosion was likely the source of this lumpy distribution. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of Gaia18dvy, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity which was accepted on Jul 16, and an observation of Aquila X-1, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Oct 10.
