PowerPoint Drawing Tutorial - information and an in-depth tutorial on the drawing and layout aspects of PowerPoint; includes a detailed section on "Adding Text."
There is an existing collection of viewgraphs which may be run off from your computer.
To do so, click on http://chandra.harvard.edu/resources/ppt/.
Select a slide to download and print. If you need to edit the viewgraph, follow these steps:
Download the desired ppt slide
Open the slide in MS PowerPoint: Select File --> Open and then choose the file you saved.
Editing: To make any changes to the viewgraph, choose Toolbars from the View menu and select Standard, Formatting, Drawing, and Picture if they are not already showing. These toolbars are usually chosen by default.
Text: Text may be modified or deleted from the viewgraph by placing the cursor on the text character(s) to be deleted or changed. To add a new section of text to the viewgraph,
click on the text box icon on your menu bar. Draw the text box in the desired location and type in your text (paying attention to font and font size). A second method of adding a text box is to select the original text box, and then choose Edit --> Copy and then Edit --> Paste from your menu bar. This will give you a text box identical to the original one which you can then edit and move around.
Font:
The original font face for the CXO header & CXC footer (Briemm Script) may be substituted
with the Arial or Palatino font in italics and bold (size 32 for header, 24 for footer for Palatino). This font style will resemble the original font in which the viewgraphs were made on the Mac.
Or, other fonts may be used in its place.
Images:
To modify an image: Click on the image with your cursor. Eight small boxes will appear around the edge of the image - this signals that you are in Picture Edit mode. From here, you may enlarge or shrink the image by clicking on one of the resizing boxes and moving it up, down, left or right. Note: To keep the image in its correct proportions, hold down the shift key as you resize it.
To move an image: Place your cursor in the center of the image and click once. Your cursor will change to a double arrow (the resize boxes will also appear). You may now click on the image and drag it to the desired location.
To insert a new image: In the top menu bar, choose Insert --> Picture --> From File. Select the image you wish to include in the viewgraph and press Insert.
Saving: Select File --> Save As from the top menu bar and type in the name of the file. Save File as Type: Presentation.
Closing: Select File --> Close from the top menu bar or press the "x" button in the upper right corner of your window.

Where can I get the CXC viewgraph template? You may download the template for the CXC viewgraphs. It is a blank slide with just the standard CXC header and footer so you may add your own text and images. It is availabe in a landscape (most commonly used)
and portrait version. Please Note: To open the template (cxc-template.pot) in PowerPoint, you must select
