Chandra cannot image the X-ray Sun. The observatory is constructed to gather photons from extremely faint, distant sources. Chandra pointed towards the Sun would have the same effect as you coming out of a completely black basement and looking directly into the Sun. Ouch! Chandra will never point within 45 degrees of the Sun and has a sunshade door and an excess light detector for protection.
