We now know that X-rays are just one more form of light, produced when electrons collide or change direction. Since the electrons are traveling at ~40,000 km/hour (24,800 miles/hour) and speed equals temperature, X-ray production events represent activity in the range of millions of degrees. X-rays reveal the hot spots of the universe.
