The scientific data collected by the CXO is stored on an onboard recorder and transmitted to ground every 8 hours. The scientific instruments are controlled by the Operations Command Center (OCC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The data is transmitted to the Goldstone Deep Space Network (GDSN) outside of Barstow, California. The data is then sent to the Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL) in Pasadena, CA, on to the Marshall Spaceflight Center in Alabama, and then to OCC where the data undergoes analysis.
