The event, a supernova explosion, occurred 6300 years before the information reached the Anasazi. SN1054 was 6 times brighter than Venus, was visible at noon, and remained visible in the daytime sky for 23 days. This explosion was so massive that if it had happened within 50 LY of Earth, the planet would have been destroyed by the passing shockwave.
