Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 24 June 2011 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Jun 23 to update the on-board ephemeris.

A Chandra image release was issued on Jun 22 describing observations of Abell 2744, a complex collision of at least four galaxy clusters. This system has been dubbed "Pandora's Cluster" by astronomers because of all of the different structures found. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2011/a2744/

Of note this week was the Cycle 13 Peer Review held in Boston, Jun 20-24.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of SN2011dh, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Jun 16, and an observation of M31 coordinated with the VLA.
