Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 24 January 2003 9.30am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Work continued on the fault tree analysis of the MUPS A-1 thruster performance reduction, with focus on the Valve Drive Electronics (VDE).

A real-time procedure was completed on Jan 17 to update the on-board ephemeris.

Chandra passed through the first eclipse of the 2003 Spring season on January 23 with nominal power and thermal performance.

A Chandra image release of the spiral galaxy M83 was made on 22 January. The image shows numerous point-like neutron star and black hole X-ray sources scattered throughout the galaxy's disk. (

The observing schedule for next week is shown below and includes a series of calibration observations of Vega and E0102-72.
