Chandra Release - October 18, 2018 Visual Description: Kes 75 The image features the supernova remnant named Kes 75 in X-ray and optical light. This view of the supernova remnant has a pink and purple hue. The structure of Kes 75 resembles a ring-shaped nebula, with a bright blue center and darker outer edges, all situated in a sea of stars. In this composite image of Kes 75, high-energy X-rays observed by Chandra are colored blue and highlight the pulsar wind nebula surrounding the pulsar, while lower-energy X-rays appear purple and show the debris from the explosion. A Sloan Digital Sky Survey optical image reveals stars in the field of view. Chandra observations reveal that a cocoon of high-energy particles at the center of the Kes 75 is moving at a remarkably high speed.
