Q&A: X-ray Astronomy



Q:

Could you describe the differences between the technology of the Chandra and Suzaku (Astro-EII) missions?

A:

With Susaku the focus is on spectroscopy, from soft (low energy) X-rays up to gamma-rays. With Chandra the focus is more on imaging in the relatively soft part of the X-ray spectrum. So, the two missions complement each other well.
