Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 5 August 2016 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Jul 31 to swap the prime solid-state recorder (SSR) from the A-side to the B-side. This swap concludes a six-month interval of health and trending data collection on SSR-A. A second real-time procedure was executed on Aug 3 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A third real-time procedure was executed on Aug 4 to set the CTU Dwell Mode dwell-word to the load-bus current, ELBI. The dwell word memory location was cleared during the Safe Mode event this past March. The reset of the dwell word to ELBI will permit a higher sampling rate of the load-bus current during the next scheduled momentum unload.

A Chandra press release was issued on Aug 4 announcing that members of the media are invited to attend the "Chandra Science for the Next Decade" workshop that will be held from August 16-19, 2016, in Cambridge, Mass. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/16_releases/press_080416.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of SWIFT J003233.6-7306, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Aug 3, an observation of the Crab coordinated with HST, and observations of 2MASS J03304890+5413551, SDSS J2325+0111, and SDSSJ213231.09+101254.1 coordinated with ground-based observatories.
