Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 27 February 2015 8.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to incorporate an observation of NGC 6440, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Feb 19. A portion of a scheduled observation of HATLASJ091043.0-000322 was impacted by the replan and will be rescheduled in a future week.

A Chandra press release was issued on Feb 25 describing observations of an intriguing object found in one of the spiral arms of the galaxy NGC 2276. The source, called NGC 2276-3c, appears to be an intermediate-mass black hole. According to X-ray and radio data, NGC 2276-3c contains about 50,000 times the mass of the Sun. For details see:

Of note this week was the release on Feb 23 of CALDB 4.6.7. This update includes ACIS time-dependent gain corrections for the period Nov 2014 through Jan 2015, a header correction for the 2008 HRC-S QE-uniformity file, and retirement of ACIS provisional time-dependent gain corrections for 2013. For details see:

The replanned schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GJ176 coordinated with HST.
