| During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A Chandra image release was issued on Nov 19 describing two new Chandra images of the supernova remnants MSH 11-62 and G327.1-1.1. The images reveal intricate structures left behind after massive stars exploded. Powerful winds of high-energy particles are released from the dense core of the dead star to create so-called pulsar wind nebulas. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2014/msh11g327/ Of note this week was the Chandra 15-Year Science Symposium held Nov 18-21 in Boston, MA. The meeting was very well attended and the range and quality of the science presented was outstanding. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below |
