Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 14 January 2005 9.00am EST

During the last two weeks Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Chandra passed through the first eclipse of the 2005 winter season on Jan 12 with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 11 to execute SCS 29 in preparation for the the first eclipse.

A Chandra press release was made on Jan 11 describing observations that indicate a swarm of 10,000 or more black holes may be orbiting the Milky Way's supermassive black hole. This would represent the highest concentration of black holes anywhere in the Galaxy. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/05_releases/press_011005.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of SDSS J0002+2550 coordinated with ground observatories.
