Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 15 June 2007 10.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include a 10 Ks HETG/ACIS-S observation of Swift J195509.6+2614. The source was accepted as a fast turn-around Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on Jun 12 and loads were replanned and uplinked on Jun 14. The observation was accommodated by deleting observations of AX J184400-0355 and NGC 6826 and inserting observations of IC 5063, NGC 1325A and SDSS J101108.40+002. The deleted observations will be rescheduled in a future load.

A Chandra image release was issued on Jun 13 of the supernova remnant N132D. The composite X-ray and infrared (Spitzer) data show the supernova shock interacting with the surrounding cooler dust grains. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2007/n132d/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes coordinated observations of M31 with HST, SGR 1900+14 with RXTE and of Abell 3667 with the optical ground-based VLT telescope.
