Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 24 August 2018 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

At 9:36pm EDT on Aug 20 the EPHIN and EPHIN Input/Output (EIO) units spontaneously reset. After examining real-time and recorder dump telemetry the engineering team concluded that the reset was most likely due to a single event upset. Because the EPHIN is no longer used operationally as a ground or on-board safing monitor, no immediate commanding response was required. Real-time procedures will be developed and executed to restore EPHIN and EIO to their nominal operating configuration. There was no loss of science time due to the reset.
