Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 22 September 2017 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra image release was issued on Sep 18 describing a new three-dimensional model of the fast symbiotic nova V745 Sco as seen in outburst. V745 Sco is a binary star system that consists of a red giant star and a white dwarf. Data from the 2014 eruption were used to create a model which suggests the nova explosionís blast wave and ejected material were likely concentrated along the north and south poles of the binary system. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2017/v745/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes two observations of NGC1313 X-1 coordinated with NuSTAR, and an observation of MAXI J1535-571, which is a followup to a Target of Opportunity which was accepted on Sep 8 and is coordinated with NuSTAR, Gemini and the JVLA.
