CXC Biographies: Dr. Steinn Sigurdsson
Assistant Professor, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Penn State
Dr. Steinn Sigurdsson is an assistant professor in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Penn State University in University Park. He is also a member of the Center for Gravitational Wave Physics, a NSF-funded Physics Frontier Center. Prior to his arrival at Penn State, he was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Astronomy and member of the King's College, Cambridge University, England. He also worked as a research associate at the Lick Observatory at the University of Californian at Santa Cruz. Dr. Sigurdsson received his Ph.D. in theoretical astrophysics from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, where he also earned his masters in physics. His research interests include theoretical astrophysics, primarily gravitational physics, compact object dynamics and related issues.
