Operations CXO Status Report

Wednesday 9/29/99 8:00am EST

During the last 24 hours the spacecraft was readied for eclipse and radiation belt passage. The SIM was moved to place ACIS in the out-of-focus position and command loads for eclipse and post-belt ACIS CTI measurements were executed. The eclipse was monitored and the spacecraft power systems followed predictions well, as has been the case for previous eclipses. The spacecraft systems continued to operate nominally.

The remaining clean-up actions following safe mode recovery are planned for the morning of 9/28 with fine attitude update. The necessary products were generated and tested overnight. Following fine attitude initialization, a GTO target will be observed until the next radiation passage on 9/29 when the next load will begin.

Analysis from the last radiation belt passage indicates that no further degradation in energy resolution was sustained by the ACIS front-side chips. The back-side chips continue to show no degradation.
