Operations CXO Status Report
Friday 5 July 2002, 9.00am EDT
During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Of note last week was the approval for uplink of an update to the on-board gyro scale-factor and alignment matrix. The uplink and associated test maneuvers are planned for July 17.
A Chandra press release was issued on June 28 describing new evidence that light emanating from near a black hole loses energy climbing out of a gravitational well created by the black hole, a key prediction of Einstein's theory of general relativity. For more details and the image, see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/02_releases/press_062802.html
The observing schedule for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of M31 coordinated with the Hubble Space Telescope.
