Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 14 June 2002, 3.00pm EDT

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedures was completed on 13 June to update the on-board Ephemeris.

Planning is complete for a check of the bright Earth limb limitation with the aspect camera during perigee passage on June 17. The check is part of an assessment of the current limitation that the aspect camera not acquire stars within 20 degrees of the bright earth. A reduction of the constraint will ease scheduling both during perigee passage and for science observing.

The Chandra cycle-4 peer review will be held next week in Boston during June 18-20. The panels will review approximately 800 proposals that will provide targets for observations starting in Nov/Dec.

A new version of the Off-Line System (OFLS) ground software began use operationally on June 12. Version 9.3 will allow use of a new aspect star catalog planned for installation next month.

The observing schedule for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of Alpha Bootis coordinated with the Hubble Space Telescope.
