Operations CXO Status Report
Friday 7/13/01 12.30pm EDT
During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Real-time procedures were completed on July 8 and 9 to insert and retract the LETG. Both insertion/retraction pairs were completed nominally. A routine update of the on-board ephemeris was performed on July 12.
Of note during July 16-18 is the conference "The High Energy universe at Sharp Focus: A Symposium of Chandra Science" in St. Paul, Minnesota. The conference will highlight a broad range of Chandra science in areas such as Supernova Remnants/Pulsars, stars, solar system/comets, X-ray binaries, Cataclysmic Variables, galaxies, Active Galactic Nuclei, surveys and clusters of galaxies.
The planned observations for the coming week are shown below and include a series of 30 approx 3 hour observations of the Galactic Center arranged to create a "raster scan" or mosaic of the region. The pointings provide for over 340Ks (94 hours) of observing time and as proposed, the data will be made public immediately.
